Integrative Medicine

Health_QuestionWhat is Integrative Holistic Medicine?

Integrative Holistic Medicine combines the best of conventional medicine and evidence based complementary medicine to achieve a natural balance that enables the healing process. It does not replace or reject “mainstream medicine” but rather takes a whole person approach to health, acknowledges the science of the mind body connection, views the relationship between physician and patient as a partnership and strives for wellness in contrast to the absence of disease.

The whole person approach accepts that there is a physical, psychological, social and spiritual aspect to not only health and wellness but to illness as well. Treatments of presenting issues are always offered in synergy with strategies for true prevention and wellness promotion. Patients are empowered with tools and strategies that allows them to take responsibility for their ultimate well-being.

Forms of Alternative and Complementary Treatments...

Complementary interventions used are always critically reviewed and only high quality evidenced based therapies are used for individualized treatment plans. For example, oral and I.V nutritional therapy, nutrition and lifestyle counselling, acupuncture, bio and neuro-feedback, herbal medicine and massage can be utilized to help return the body to a balanced state. The needs of each individual are determined through a thorough a history and physical exam, indicated innovative laboratory evaluations and age appropriate screening exams.

About Dr. Harry's Wellness Program:

For our Wellness and Youthful aging program, we suggest that you allot a 90 minute slot to be evaluated on your initial visit. Our physician obtains a detailed history and performs a s brief physical exam. At that time, the physician may suggest a series of laboratory evaluation including blood, stool or urine samples. Depending on history, other screening test may be recommended such as EKG, Cardiac stress test, colonoscopy, bone density screening and mammogram.

The blood and the urine test are used to identify imbalances that may be having a negative impact on your healthy. The results of other evaluation will shed light on your physiological age and allow us to use targeted therapies appropriately.

We Focus On The Following Areas To Help You Live Healthy & Look Younger:

Dietary Nutritional Counselling:
Many studies are suggesting today that foods are a powerful tool in any healthy aging program. A poor eating pattern can generate free radical that can continue to damage cells at an accelerate rate thereby promoting premature aging and health issues. Many chronic issues such as hypertension, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease can be significantly negatively impacted by our choice o foods. A recent Harvard study also supports the fact that certain foods promote weight gain.

A low saturated fats, low sugar diet for example can help slow down the aging process by supporting healthy cholesterol levels, healthier blood sugar level and reduction in cellular damage. A natural outcome of such a diet may be weight loss and a healthier body image.

Nutritional Supplementation/Detoxfication:
Depending on lab results and presentation a nutritional therapy program (I.V or Oral may be recommended). Some studies are suggesting that certain nutrients may be helpful in supporting a healthier aging process. Our nutritional supplements are natural and carefully selected and are offered to our patients as a convenience.

If indicated a detoxification program may be recommended. This may include using medical foods, certain dietary restrictions and targeted nutritional therapy to help support the body’s own detoxification process. If our body is relieved of some of its toxic burden then stress on our cellular repair system may be reduced thereby promoting a healthier you.

Bio-identical Hormonal Therapy:
Replacement and balance of our body’s natural hormones can be an important part of any rejuvenation, anti-aging program. Along with sex hormones (estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, etc.), neurotransmitter levels are also evaluated because they may work synergistically with hormones to promote better moods and more restful sleep patterns. Both of which are invaluable in slowing the aging process.

Aesthetic Services:
Hormonal imbalance, lack of sleep and dietary indiscretions can also reflect on our skin, hair and nails. While replacement and physiological balance may decrease rate of damage and promote energy and vitality, signs of damage may have already etched itself into our skin. We offer aesthetic and non-surgical rejuvenation services such as Botox, facial fillers and laser rejuvenation to help you to look as good as you feel.
